The Port of Everett is committed to providing equal access to its public programs, services, facilities, and activities for all citizens, including those with disabilities. To achieve this end, the Port is in the process of finalizing its Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan – a document that will formalize the Port’s accessibility planning to ensure its facilities, programs and administrative practices maintain ADA compliance.
The Port’s draft ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan is now available for review and comment. The public is encouraged to provide feedback to support an informed Plan that targets key accessibility improvements at the Port into the future.

The draft Plan incorporates input received during initial stakeholder outreach that resulted in feedback via an online survey and participation in a virtual public open house in February 2021. This comment period provides additional opportunity for the public to provide feedback on the draft Plan, and a final opportunity for comment will be made available during an open public hearing at the Port Commission meetings in June 2021, prior to consideration of Plan adoption by the Port Commission.
The goal of the Plan is to assist the Port in identifying barriers to accessibility and to develop barrier removal prioritization solutions that will facilitate the opportunity of access to all individuals within the Port’s transportation network (streets, sidewalks, crosswalks, etc.), recreational facilities, and identified policies and procedures.
The Port has pursued a phased approach to this effort with Phase I focused on identifying and prioritizing barriers in the Port’s transportation network and select outdoor recreational facilities at the destination waterfront from 10th to 18th Streets, west of West Marine View Drive. Phase I also sets out to establish policies and procedures set by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
Subsequent phases intend to further identify and address barriers in remaining Port facilities including other recreational sites, building facilities, and Port services, programs and activities.
